Not Nearly Dawn

beach at dawn

It is not nearly dawn

Still dark enough and cloudy enough

That you’re not really sure

If light will appear.

But far in the distance is the

Blink, blink, blink

Of a lighthouse promising

Hope, hope, hope.

You can hear the waves hit the shore,

You can feel your feet on the sand.

And you know where you are

Even though you don’t know where you are

Because there is the

Blink, blink, blink

Of the lighthouse promising

Here, here, here.

And you know the sun is coming

Because it always comes, it’s a promise

And you’ll soon feel it warming you

And you won’t shiver in the dark much longer

But until that moment of daybreak

You find solace in the message of the lighthouse.

Blink, blink, blink

Soon, soon, soon.
